Our Story
Bob and Debbe Peterson started Lazy Dog Confections back in the 1990’s. Debbe sold ice cream from her cart right here in the Brunswick Basin and the empire was launched. From their corner cart they slowly expanded adding carts, trailers and stores. Lazy Dog Confections became a staple in Nevada County at weddings, concerts, the Nevada County Fair and many other events. Bob and Debbe sold their store in downtown Grass Valley in 2015 but continued to operate Lazy Dog Confections from their mobile carts.
We had always admired Lazy Dog Confections as customers and eventually as friends of Bob and Debbe. As the Petersons started to plan their retirement strategy we saw an opportunity to take over their mobile cart business and open our own store back where it had all started! We spent countless hours working with Bob and Debbe learning the ins and outs of Lazy Dog Confections. We took over operations in 2022.
While Lazy Dog Confections has been an iconic name in Nevada County we decided to rebrand. In keeping with the canine connection we have changed the name to “CoCo’s”. David rescued CoCo, an amazing yellow labrador, in 1994. CoCo eventually chose to live between both David and Barbara’s households having the best of both worlds. CoCo loved to go everywhere with us opting to sit in a car for two hours to make sure she did not miss the trip!
Like CoCo we love to go everywhere and we are thrilled with the journey. We enjoy seeing you all at events and look forward to seeing you in our store!
